31.12.2024 11:19

Dilan Bayhan, a graduate and undergraduate student who is currently doing her doctorate in the Department of Philosophy at İzmir Katip Çelebi University, held an online seminar titled Enlightenment Thought and Immanuel Kant.

In addition to our undergraduate and graduate students and professors, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Celal Yeşilçayır from Gümüşhane University and students continuing their master's program at Erzurum Technical University also attended the seminar. In this sense, the event also paved the way for regional academic collaboration.
In the seminar, Dilan Bayhan first emphasized the necessity of situating the enlightenment thought within a historical context. Then, she provided the basis for placing Kant in this context and made a close reading of Kant's text "What is Enlightenment?" in her presentation.
The seminar ended with a productive Q&A session, once again underlining the importance of the political horizon of Kant's critical philosophy.
The seminar ended with a consensus and excitement shared about continuing this first seminar we held with our graduate students.
