The Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Muş Alparslan University first started accepting students in the 2009-2010 academic year. The department of philosophy, which accepted 83 students in the 2009-2010 academic year, graduated its first students with a total of 75 students in 2013. In 2013, it opened a joint master's degree with the Department of Philosophy of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University and has been graduating since 2016. The department of philosophy, which started with a small number of academic staff, continues its education with one professor, seven doctoral lecturers, seven research assistants and one lecturer. The Department of Philosophy also started the Sociology Department Double Major program in 2016 and graduated a total of six students in the Double Major program in 2017. A total of 430 graduates have been produced as undergraduates since 2013. 229 students are currently continuing their education and training.
