MUŞ ALPARSLAN UNIVERSITY
INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES
PHILOSOPHY DEPARTMENT GRADUATE STUDENTS MEETING
An online meeting was organized with our department graduates on November 20, 2024 at 19:00. In the meeting, first of all, the current health, education and work situations of our graduates were discussed. Then, our graduates were asked to evaluate various dimensions of the education they received at the Philosophy Department of the Social Sciences Institute of Muş Alparslan University. In this context, the opinions and suggestions of our graduate students regarding the curriculum, department and university were tried to be determined. It was emphasized that the meeting was very productive by the students and faculty members. The opinions and suggestions put forward at the meeting are as follows:
The courses taken by our students within the scope of the program have made positive contributions to their lives,
In this sense, the master's program has introduced them to ideas that have affected their lives,
The education they received within the scope of the program has led them to conduct research in new areas,
Although many of them have taken a break for a while, they are eager to start their doctoral education and pursue an academic career,
They have initiatives regarding learning a language,
They are trying to evaluate what they have learned within the scope of the program on academic platforms (congresses, conferences, articles, etc.),
They expressed their ideas on adding courses in current areas such as artificial intelligence and philosophy of language to the curriculum.
In addition, both our students and faculty members have expressed a common opinion on making alumni meetings more systematic, increasing interaction, and making plans for our graduate students to actively participate in departmental activities. In this context, considering that our students are in different cities, it has been decided to make plans for online seminars, experience sharing, etc. It has been observed that there is a bond between our students in terms of sharing information (language learning materials, scholarship applications, some information about the academic process).
Eight students who graduated at different times attended the meeting. One of our students continues her doctoral studies. She is at the thesis stage. However, there are also students who continue to work in different areas: different areas of the private and public sector, contract teaching outside the field, and the police. However, it has been noticed that all of our graduate students tend to continue their academic studies.
During the meeting, our students were informed about the graduate surveys implemented by the Institute of Social Sciences. Information was provided about the quality and accreditation process we are in as an institution and awareness was tried to be created. It has been observed that our students are highly motivated to strengthen their ties with our university and department.
The meeting ended with mutual good wishes.
